Dementia Awareness Month

Dementia Awareness Month

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness month and the Alzheimer’s Association are calling for everyone to unite in the fight against dementia moving forward.

Figures in 2018 show that Alzheimers is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and there are currently around 5.7 million people living with it across the country.

With one in ten people over the age of 65 having Alzheimer’s in America there is a large section of society that are potentially at greater risk of falling victim to scams, especially over the telephone. In 2016 our own research, conducted by YouGov, revealed that a fifth of US adults admit that they had been victims of a phone scam.

Our call blockers help to protect individuals and put the power back in their hands. We are constantly working to improve our technology to increase self-help and lessen the demand for emergency services. As well as our call blockers we also have a range of other self care products including the WATCHU Guardian; a GPS tracking smart watch that can locate the wearer at all times and notify loved ones when the wearer leaves a designated ‘safe zone’.

Visit the Alzheimer’s Association website to share your story and/or show your support for people with Alzheimer’s and use the hashtag #TakeAction.
